“Commit your works to the Lord, And your plans will succeed.”

Proverbs 16:3

Trust is life

I am very big on trust. We cannot survive in a world without trust. Imagine walking around being suspicious of everyone you see. You’ll go crazy! There has to be some basic trust for us to be able to coexist or cooperate peacefully. Think about this for a minute. Why do you think after all these years of peace between Russia and Ukraine, Putin wakes up one day and decides “I have to invade Ukraine”? It appears some trust evaporated. It is no surprise he demands alterations in Ukrainian government to stop his invasion. Point is, trust is vital. Without it, we will end up killing each other.

Trust is extensive

I cannot emphasize enough the significance of trust. The word is simple, but its implications are very extensive. It covers loyalty among friends, agreement between associates, fidelity in marriage, governance, business, among others. Like I mentioned earlier, our existence, itself, is founded on trust. As such, trust is not something we give easily. When you watch movies like “The Godfather“, you see that trust is earned and once broken, it’s very hard to repair. As humans, we value trust.

Trust goes both ways

It is no surprise that we give trust to only people we consider deserving or have earned it in some way or manner. So, let me ask you this. Who is more deserving of your trust than God, your creator? Trust definitely goes both ways and by all indications, God trusts us. He gave us this whole earth for our home, didn’t he? That’s so much trust. He built a house (the earth) and trusted us to take care of it.

Trust is not a politician

Another big part of trust is staying true to your word. Trust grows when promises made are consistently fulfilled. It is no surprise that most people, if not all, do not trust politicians. Oh yes, I know. They say one thing for you to vote for them and change once in power. Funny enough, they make more outlandish promises when they need your vote again and do the bare minimum after going into office. Yes, they are despicable. I know. Nonetheless, God, unlike our politicians, has never broken his word and he’s promised he’ll never do that. Who better to entrust with your day-to-day than him?

You can trust God

Good thing is, God is interested in your every work. Of course, he knows what you’re up to. He won’t be God otherwise. But, he still wants you to consciously enter into a daily agreement of trust with him on everything you do. Tell him when you wake. Let him know his son (or daughter) is awake. Explain how you feel and allow his words to drive you. When you sit in your car, say “Lord, I’m about to drive. I know you’re with me. Let’s do this!” At work, tell him you’re about to make him a proud dad. Of course, he’s proud of you. It still doesn’t hurt to let him know you’re about to bring him more glory in your work. Invite him to your meals at break times and involve him in your conversations.

Having this kind of rapport with God, through the Holy Spirit, increases your dependence on God. Trust him with more and more everyday until you’re totally dependent on God. God, for his part, will acknowledge your show of trust and ensure that your plans for each day succeeds. Isn’t that a beautiful thing to have?

Your plans will succeed

I pray that you will be able to find it in your heart to commit your day-to-day unto God. He is worthy of your trust but you won’t know that until you try, right? So, what are you waiting for? Start a conversation with God now and tell him all about what you’re doing after this and what you’ll do much later. Let him permeate your life as you yield to him in trust and see him bring your very thoughts to life!
