“Your network is your net worth”

Porter Gale

Previously, I made it a point to emphasize the value of being a human Swiss army knife. It goes without saying that you need to learn as many skills as you can possibly pick up to position yourself for success. You are probably wondering, that’s going to be a lot of skills that I need. You are probably right. Not to worry though. Fact is, one person can only do so much. However, if you know the right people, your situation can be helped.

What I mean is this. For success, you need many skill sets but you cannot possibly cultivate all skills. That notwithstanding, nothing actually stops you from keeping the tools you don’t have that you may need in close proximity. To put it simply, you need friends who can help when the need arises.

This, right here, is where networking comes into the fray. When you have mastered your field or area of life and are self-sufficient, you need to connect with individuals who have also mastered other fields to create for yourself a pool of specialized help. This connection creates a mutually beneficial relationship where you contribute when needed and others contribute to your cause for success as well.

At a glance, it seems difficult. However, when you distinguish yourself by developing your unique skills, you become capable of lending to others and others will do the same for you.

There is more to staying meaningfully connected, but this is just to give you an idea of why successful people value the principle of networking. You want to be as successful as others who have gone ahead of you, add the magic tool of networking to your toolbox!

I was born and raised in Ghana, I'm passionate about life and always enjoy spending quality time with the people that matter to me. I enjoy discourse, traveling and playing games. Professionally, I take pride in the research projects I’ve participated in and keep looking for avenues to contribute to society. My priorities are God, family and work. It's always a delight for me to make new friends and I like being a positive influence.
